Wood Duck Kayak

This is a hybrid design kayak, meaning that it has a marine plywood hull and a strip-built deck.    The advantage with this design by Eric Shade, is that you get the speed of building with plywood and the beauty of cove and bead strips.    In this boat, we are using California redwood and Eastern White Pine for the deck.

Quilting Table

On this project, we were asked to create a quilting work station that could be placed in the family room and closed up to look like a piece of furniture.   Our customer designed the interior space and we matched up the exterior to their existing cherry kitchen and dining room cabinetry.   Over time, this cherry piece and its clear finish will darken to match the home’s existing woodwork perfectly.

French Vanilla cabinetry

A few years ago, we were asked to match our cabinets to an off-white paint chip, our customer called, “French Vanilla”  We worked with our finish supplier and developed a custom tinted, pre-catalyzed finish finish we also named, “French Vanilla”.    Since that project, we have used the same custom finish many times, including on the condo renovation we show here.    One thing that is different on this project is that we also included a very subtle Van Dyke Brown glaze to highlight the simple door design.

Beautiful Select Alder Kitchen

Here is a recent project made in select alder and stained dark walnut.  The homeowner carried the color palette throughout the home, using dark stained alder for windows, doors and crown moulding.

European-style Hickory Kitchen

Our shop builds a framed cabinet which we believe is superior to frameless cabinets.   However, we are sometimes asked to achieve the frameless look to meet a particular client’s aesthetic preferences.    Here is such a project, made of select hickory, where the reveals between doors and drawers is kept to a minimum to achieve that european look:
